Allow me to reintroduce myself

Hi there sewing friends !

As I sit down to reflect on everything that sewing has brought into my life, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a little more about how it all began. Sewing has been a part of my world for as long as I can remember, starting as a childhood hobby and growing into a passion that has shaped so much of who I am today. It’s been a journey filled with challenges, growth, and countless moments of joy, and I’m so grateful to share it with you.

Over the years, sewing has evolved from a creative outlet into a way to connect with like-minded people and build a community where we can inspire and support each other. Whether it’s through teaching, designing patterns, or sharing my love for handmade projects, I’ve found so much purpose and fulfillment in this space.

Today, I’ll take you through how it all began, some of the pivotal moments that helped shape Ford Wardrobe, and a few of my current projects that are bringing me so much joy (including some adorable sewing creations I’ve been working on lately!). So grab a moment to yourself, and let’s dive into the story behind my sewing journey.

The Early Years

My sewing story began 20 years ago when I received my very first sewing machine as a Christmas gift. I still remember the excitement of threading the needle for the first time and stitching fabric together to create something entirely my own. Those early experiments weren’t perfect (far from it!), but they sparked a love for sewing that only grew stronger over time.

In middle and high school, sewing became my favorite subject. Even though I didn’t have the best teacher, I found joy in designing and creating clothes for myself. However, my journey wasn’t without its challenges. One of the hardest moments came when I failed a sewing project in high school due to a mistake in my bibliography. That one error cost me a scholarship to study fashion design—something I had dreamed of pursuing. It was a tough pill to swallow, but it taught me the value of perseverance.

After high school, I took a gap year to save for university, working four jobs at once. It was exhausting, but it gave me the financial independence I needed to pursue my passion without relying on student loans. By the time I began studying fashion, I was determined to make the most of the opportunity. It wasn’t always smooth sailing—there were moments of doubt and setbacks—but those years laid the groundwork for everything Ford Wardrobe has become.

From Small Beginnings to a Thriving Community

Ford Wardrobe didn’t appear overnight; it’s been a journey of trial, error, and lots of learning along the way. In 2020, I took my first real step into the world of entrepreneurship by launching a small business making merino baby beanies. It was never about turning a huge profit but rather learning the ropes—figuring out things like marketing, setting up a website, and running a small operation.

That experience paved the way for Ford Wardrobe, which officially began with the launch of my first sewing pattern: a bucket hat. It was a simple project, but it marked the beginning of something much bigger. I slowly started building a community through social media, sharing my passion for sewing tutorials, tips, and patterns. Things really took off in 2023 when my following grew from 20,000 to over 750,000 in less than a year. It was both exciting and overwhelming, but it solidified my belief that sewing resonates with so many people.

Today, Ford Wardrobe is all about inspiring others to find joy in sewing. From beginner-friendly patterns to sustainable fashion ideas, I’ve focused on creating resources that empower people to sew confidently, whether they’re just starting or looking to take their skills to the next level.

Looking Back and Looking Ahead

Reflecting on this journey, I’m reminded of how far I’ve come—not just in sewing but in building a life and business I truly love. From those first wobbly stitches on my childhood sewing machine to designing patterns and launching a beginner sewing course, every step has been a learning experience.

This year has been about refining and growing Ford Wardrobe, adding more products, and focusing on what truly brings me joy—helping others discover the magic of sewing. I’ve realized that building something meaningful takes time, patience, and a willingness to adapt, and I’m grateful for every moment along the way.

Looking ahead, I’m excited for what’s to come. Whether it’s creating new patterns, sharing tutorials, or connecting with all of you through social media, I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us. Sewing has been such a transformative part of my life, and I hope it can be the same for you too.

Thank you for being part of this community—it’s been a privilege to share this journey with you. Here’s to many more projects, stitches, and creative moments ahead!
